Storyline:
After years of service in the Dutch East Indies (nowadays Indonesia) Dries, Manus and Toon return to Amsterdam in the neighborhood they grew up in, De Jordaan. In the beginning it is party and the boys drink themselves completely, and the fun around their return is great but soon the boys are unhappy in love and work is not for the taking. Dries is the first to leave, especially after he had a fight with Leendert over Blonde Greet. Dries had heard that Greet had not been faithfull to him but that was based on a lie from Leendert's mother. When everything has been settled, Dries must confess that he has signed for the east for six years.

Additional Information:
De Jantjes is one of sixteen movies selected into the Canon of Dutch Cinema in 2007, comprised of "important and defining movies that show the versatility of Dutch movie history".
The producers wanted this film to be the first Dutch talkie, but were beaten to the punch by Willem van Oranje (1934), which was released slightly more than a month earlier. De Jantjes is the first film to be shot in ‘Hollands Hollywood’, the Cinetone Studios in Duivendrecht.
